New Volume of the AMS – Festschrift for Prof. Engelbert Winter

On the occasion of the emeritation of Prof. Engelbert Winter, Michael Blömer, Dilek Çobanoğlu, Torben Schrieber, and Eva Strothenke-Koch dedicate to him the newly published 107th volume of the Asia Minor Studies series, titled “Kommagene und Kleinasien. Beiträge zu Geschichte, Archäologie und Landschaft. Festschrift für Engelbert Winter.”

For more than 50 years, the study of Asia Minor and Commagene has been the mission of the Asia Minor Research Center in Münster. For over 30 of those years, Engelbert Winter was a driving force behind this work. In particular, through the excavations he initiated in Doliche and at the sanctuary of Jupiter Dolichenus on Dülük Baba Tepesi, he made a significant contribution to Turkish-German cooperation in the field of ancient studies. The contributions collected in this volume honor his commitment and, in addition to presenting current research results in numismatics, archaeology, and epigraphy of Asia Minor, also include findings and discoveries from the excavations in Doliche.

The volume is divided into three sections. The contributions in the first section focus on the landscape of Commagene and ancient northern Syria. The second section presents the results of the work carried out in Doliche and at the sanctuary of Jupiter Dolichenus on Dülük Baba Tepesi. Research on the rest of Asia Minor forms the third section. The contributions are of interest to scholars of the history, religious history, numismatics, and epigraphy of Asia Minor, and also constitute an important complement to the publications of the excavation results from Doliche.

The volume was published on 6 February 2026 by De Gruyter. (https://doi.org/10.1515/9783112217177)
