The dimensions of the buildings suggested that the public center of the city was located here. The results of the excavations confirmed this. In the center is a long rectangular hall, which is adjoined to the east and south by the bathing block. To the north-east is the 160m2 frigidarium with a cold-water pool surrounded by a colonnade and a corridor with a mosaic floor.    <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1185\" height=\"912\" src=\"https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-40-edited.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-40-edited.png 1185w, https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-40-edited-300x231.png 300w, https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-40-edited-1024x788.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-40-edited-768x591.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1185px) 100vw, 1185px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mosaics have good parallels in the neighboring Zeugma, among others, and prove that they were created in the 2nd century A.D. The heated rooms, tepidarium and caldarium, adjoin to the south. Several sewers running under the floors provide information about the water management.    <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"680\" src=\"https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/grafik-41-1024x680.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7762\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-41-1024x680.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-41-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-41-768x510.png 768w, https:\/\/www.doliche.uni-muenster.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/grafik-41.png 1182w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dolichen baths are evidence of the adoption of Roman bathing customs, as is also the case in other regions of the Near East, and show how Roman ideas of the city and urban culture shaped the life of Doliche in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. In general, the baths bear witness to the monumentalization of the city and the use of materials and techniques that only came to Syria under Roman rule. The thermal baths are also valuable because they show the imperial state without late antique expansion measures. The bundle of document seals is one of the largest closed find complexes of its kind from antiquity. It is a monumental temple, approx. 60 x 40 m in size, which is characterized by its special architecture. Instead, systematic looting took place in the course of the 4th century AD.
